An attractive map of the Mediterranean islands of Sicily and (inset) Malta and Gozo. The lower right corner has a comprehensive explanation table and mileage scales. The map was produced by the French cartographer G. De'Lisle and printed and sold by the Ottens brothers, Reiner and Joshua, in Amsterdam. The brothers, who flourished in the first half of the eighteenth century, produced large collections of maps, including examples of nearly all available maps of the time; these were then made up to order and produced into multi-volumed works, and issued with lovely original colour.
Size: 520 x 625 mm. Copperplate engraving with original hand colour.
Lower margin very tight, slight discolouration to central fold, otherwise in good condition.
