Signed lower left. W H Caffyn was an artist and illustrator whose work included the First World War poster 'Come along, boys! Enlist to-day'. This illustration was done for the publishers J M Dent.Sir (George) Laurence Gomme, FSA (1853-1916) was a public servant and leading British folklorist. He helped found both the Victoria County History and the Folklore Society. He also had an interest in old buildings and persuaded the London County Council to take up the blue plaque commemorative scheme. Drawing, pencil and crayon 275 x 230 mm Fine condition
