The map shows in very sketched detail and inaccurate scale, part of present day Quebec, from Montrea at lower right to the south-western tip of Hudson Bay at top left. Antonio Zatta was one of the leading cartographers and publishers of the time, and his Atlante Novissimo was one of the most beautifully produced of 18th century atlases. He drew on the work of other cartographers - such as Captain Cook, for his maps of New Zealand and Australia, Robert de Vaugondy, Bellin, and developed his own distinctive elegant style.
