An interesting map of the Falkland Islands with very scant detail. The outline of West Falkland is incomplete, and that of East Falkland fairly inaccurate. In January 1690, English sailor John Strong, captain of the Welfare, was heading for Puerto Deseado in Argentina, when he was driven off course by contrary winds. He reached the Sebald Islands instead, landing at Bold Cove. The only place names given on the map are the Sebald Islands and Baye Francois, now Berkeley Sound.
Copper engraving. Later colour.
Very good condition with nice margins.
