John Cary was a highly esteemed English cartographer, publisher, instrument and globe maker, who flourished towards the end of the eighteenth century, and the beginning of the nineteenth centuries. His map were well known for their accuracy and their attention to detail. In this map of Egypt, Cary highlights the river Nile, and the many small settlements that sprang up along its banks, together with a large inset of the Delta heading towards Cairo.
