Ortelius published this map in his now famous atlas The Theatrum Orbis Terrarum, basing it on the earlier 1548 map by Jacques and Jean Surhon, according to the reference book of van der Broecke there were only one hundred copies of this map printed. Strapwork cartouche, coats of arms,two scales beadwork border. This is a highly decorative, inexpensive sixteenth century map. Copper engraving. Original colour. Fine condition, good margins.
