Description

Attractive shell print from Conchylien Cabinet. Martini (1729-1778) began first at the University of Jena a study of Theology, changes then however to Medicine. In 1757 Martini gain his doctorate from the Universitty of Frankfurt an der Oder. From 1758 to 1764 Martini worked as a physician in Artern and then settled as a practicing physician in Berlin. Martini founded in Berlin in 1764 the Learned Journal Society of Pharmacology, Economics and Natural History, the first scientific-medical society. In 1773 he was the founder of the Friends Society Nature of Research in Berlin. Engraved by Andreas Happe. Martini began in 1769 publication of the New systematic Conchylien Cabinet, from that date to its death three volumes appeared. The further publication of the work took place through Johann Hieronymus Chemnitz. Engraved by Andreas Happe. Size: 290 x 222 mm. Good condition.
