This print of Clower Wall is a wonderful example of Johannes Kip's work. Architectural elements are rendered with great care and detail; with the gardens and nature beyond illustrated with luxurious fullness. The print was originally produced for the remarkable Britannia Illustrata before being published in Robert Atkyns' The Ancient & Present State of Gloucestershire. A talented draughtsman & engraver, Johannes Kip (1653-1722) was a Dutchman who settled in England at the end of the 17th century. Copper engraving. Uncoloured. Fine condition Size: 42 x 35 cm.
