Decorative map of the historically significant Spanish province of Arragon. The map centres on Zaragoza and extends to Balbasdtor, Huesca, Calataiud, Tortosa, Tervel, Albarrazin, and Cuenca. The natural landscape of rivers, mountains, and valleys are shown pictorially in relief. Features two handsome decorated cartouches located on lower margin and five coats of arms, identifying surrounding areas / kingdoms, placed throughout the map. Latin text on verso.
Willem Janszoon Blaeu (1571-1638) was a prolific Dutch cartographer, atlas maker and publisher. His highly decorative maps are very much sought after and belong to the most attractive maps of the period.
