Beautiful map of North America showing just above the Arctic Circle in the north, to Nicaragua in the south. The United States are shown up to the border of the Mississipi, west of that has sparse detail apart from the west coast, and the Rockies or 'Stony Mountains'. John Cary was considered 'the most representative, able and prolific of English cartographers'. Tooley says, 'As an engraver he was elegant and exact with fine clear lettering and great delicacy of touch'. Taken from Cary's New Universal Atlas.
