Flowering stem in colour, flanked by small uncoloured depictions of flower, seed and bulb. The Belgian, Pierre Joseph Redoute, 'Raphael of flowers', was patronized at the French court by Marie Antoinette, and after the revolution by Napoleon and Josephine.
