A set of 4 important Italian cities and ports, situated in Tuscany, Emilia-Romagna and Marche. Each detailed plan has been enhanced by the addition of light, 'soft' hand colour. From Johann Heck's comprehensive "Iconographic Encyclopedia of Science, Literature and Art", one of the earliest encylopedia's of its day - which was itself based on Friedrich Brockhaus' "Bilder Atlas". Size: 235 x300 mm. Coloured copperplate engraving. Slightly toned, but in good condition.
