A poster for Churchill's campaign to retain his Woodford constituency seat in the 1959 election. It was the final election he contested, nearly six decades after becoming MP for Oldham in 1900. Churchill's fame was such that the poster does not even state his name or party.
The poster was printed for the ex-Indian army officer Colonel William Hubert Barlow-Wheeler, Churchill's political agent in Woodford, who was later awarded an MBE for his services in the constituency. Churchill won the seat with 71.24 percent of the vote.
Offset lithograph (380 x 230 mm).
A few slight spots of soiling. In excellent condition.
