Attractive view of Speyer on the Rhine. Boats cross the river in the foreground, whilst beyond the city walls, the four towers of the Dom Kirche and other buildings of the town stand out against the horizon. This view was one of many engravings originally published in Merian's Theatrum Europaeum that were incorporated into later editions of Gottfried's chronicles. Copper engraving. Uncoloured.
