This attractive and early map of North America was originally prepared by Van der Aa for inclusion in his 1706 De gedenkwaardige en al-om beroemde voyagien der Spanjaarden na West-Indien. The map includes a very decorative title cartouche featuring early European settlers and traders and Native Americans. With separate German and Spanish scale of miles. Pieter van der Aa was a bookseller, auctioneer and prolific publisher in Leiden during the early eighteenth century. His maps are well engraved and have a beauty and elegance about them.
