Original copperplates made for the four-colour separation process used to produce the final image published opposite p. 20, the first illustration in the book (excluding the frontispiece). This remarkable survival shows Nielsen's painstaking artistic technique in building up the four-colour process (Rackham used a three-colour process) to produce the rich and complex illustrations for his deluxe books.
Four engraved copperplates, each measuring approximately 183 x 134 mm, mounted in a row, together with a full-colour pull of the image, framed and glazed.
Traces of green patina where copper has slightly oxidised, but fine condition.
