The poster used for Mandela's historic run for the presidency of South Africa in 1994, where he was elected in a landslide as the first black president of the country, in the nation's first election held with universal suffrage, marking the end of apartheid. This poster was collected at the time by a South African looking to preserve such historic material. This is the larger version of the poster, issued mounted on card backing for display. Broadside printed in ANC colours of green, yellow, and black around a colour photographic portrait of Mandela, 83 x 58 cm. Mounted on card backing as issued, and mounted on further card as support; in black wooden frame with conservation acrylic glazing, 96 cm x 69 cm. Very minor creasing at extremities; in near-fine condition.
