Richard Hamilton
USD$70,216

Description

Edition of 70. Signed and numbered in pencil lower left by Hamilton. This print was printed, embossed and diestamped by Hamilton and Giorgio Upiglio in Milan with collage added by Hamilton in London. In February 1967 Fraser and Jagger were arrested for the possession of controlled drugs after a rowdy party at Keith Richards's farmhouse, Redlands, in West Wittering, Sussex. The legal proceedings started in May 1967 and were adjourned until June to be heard in a higher court. A photograph by John Twine published in the Daily Sketch newspaper on 29 June, showing Robert Fraser and Mick Jagger being driven to court for sentencing handcuffed together in a prison van, was the source of this print. Hard ground etching, aquatint, embossing and photo-etching from 2 plates, metalic foil die-stamping, with collage on mould-made etching paper. Image Size: 34 x 55.6 cm. Sheet size: 57 x 73 cm. Excellent condition. Presented in a welded aluminium frame with UV protective glass.
