Handsome map of 'Svevia', now part of southern Germany. Unusually, north is at the lower edge of map. Latin text and the coat of arms of Wirtenberg to the right of map Title cartouche to right of top centre. Matthaus Quad was a German cartographer based in Cologne, which, at the time was the centre for German cartography. This map is from his Fascilus Geographicus. It was printed by Johannes Bussemacher.
