Beautiful print of the duck, the colours vibrant, the detail exquisite, from Johann Leonhard Frisch's 'Vorsstellung der Vogel in Deutschland'. This was the first great German colour-plate bird book. The plates feature European and exotic birds, including a number of parrots, drawn from the family collection of preserved specimens. The book was a family affair, completed after Frisch's death by his sons and grandson. Copper engraving. Original colour. Size: 29 x 21 cm. (11 x 8 inches)
