The original illustration, signed by the artist, for the scene in which a convalescent Richard Doubledick awakens to find that the woman tending to him is his once-estranged love Mary, and that she is now his wife, they having married when he had been at the point of death. Charles Brock and his brother Henry used to collect period furniture and clothing so that their friends and relations could model for the artists in their Cambridge studio. Original pen and ink illustration on card (244 x 285 mm), mounted. Faint marks to edges, with a perforation to centre. In very good condition.
