A lovely small map of the west central French region of Poitou. From approximately the tenth century until the middle of the twelfth century, the Counts of Poitou were also the Dukes of Aquitaine, therfore, through King Henry II's marriage to Eleanor of Aquitaine, the province was English from 1152 until it again became part of France in 1416. Copperplate engraving with hand colour. Fine condition.
