Interesting engraving showing the ruins of Persepolis, including some mysterious "characters" in cuneiform (which was only deciphered in the 19th century). Cornelis de Bruyn is remembered chiefly for the records of his extensive travels in Egypt, Persia, India, and other countries, illustrated with his own designs.
Copper engraving. Uncoloured.
