These beautiful copper engravings come from the Collection coloriee des plus belles varieetes de Jacinthes in Pierre Buchoz's supplement to the work Collection des Fleurs de la Chine & de l'Europe, & de tout l'Ouvrage. Published 1781. Buchoz was born in Metz and initially recieved instruction as a lawyer and a physician. At the age of 28, he had attained the proud post of physician to the King of Poland. In time he left his postion as he shifted his focus to another great delight in his life: natural history, especially botany. Copper engraving. Original colour. Mount size: 495 x 373 mm.
