Map of the Free State of Thuringia, located in central Germany. Considered one of the smallest of Germany's sixteen Bundesländer (federal states). The lion insignia from the state flag is shown in reverse on the right. Matthaus Quad was a German cartographer based in Cologne, which, at the time was the centre for German cartography. This map is from his Fascilus Geographicus. It was printed by Johannes Bussemacher.
