Beautiful town plan of the port of Messina and its defences as seen from the sea with many boats in the harbour, title on top edge. Matthaus Merian's Topographia was a vast work, originally published in 21 volumes in 1640, remaining in print until 1730. Copper engraving. Uncoloured. Excellent condition. Mounted size: 56 x 45cm.
