An attractive and fascinating, but wildly inaccurate, map of the Mediterranean island of Malta. North is orientated facing the bottom of the map, and the island of Gozo is seen on the right. Decorative features include: a title cartouche, sea monsters, mermen, compass rose and ship at sea. This map was published in the 'L'Isole Piu Famoso del Mondo' atlas. (Ref Morland and Bannister, p68) Size: 150 x 110 mm. Copper engraving. Uncoloured. Fine condition, a fine, crisp impression. Map printed on a sheet with a letter press.
