Print of a duck's head (Fig.1) and 2 bones (Fig.2), the colours vibrant, the detail exquisite, from Johann Leonhard Frisch's 'Vorsstellung der Vogel in Deutschland'. This was the first great German colour-plate bird book. The plates feature European and exotic birds, including a number of parrots, drawn from the family collection of preserved specimens. The book was a family affair, completed after Frisch's death by his sons and grandson.
