Douglas Noel Adams was born on March 11, 1952, in Cambridge, England. He attended Brentwood School and St John's College, Cambridge. After college, he struggled to make a living out of writing and at one point even worked as a bodyguard. His break came when he landed a job as a writer for the BBC Radio 4 show 'The Burkiss Way'. Douglas Adams's rise to fame came after the broadcast of 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy' on BBC Radio 4 in 1978. His work is known for its wit, imaginative storytelling, and pondering the human condition. He moved to California and was involved in the creation of the computer game 'Starship Titanic' and the 'Hitchhiker's Guide' movie. He was a proclaimed atheist and an environmental activist. In his later years, he focused on his work with endangered species.
